Public can soon weigh in on roundabout proposal in Bentonville

BENTONVILLE -- People will soon be able to ask questions and provide feedback on a proposal to build a roundabout and make other changes to an intersection in town.

The city is partnering with the Arkansas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to conduct a public meeting on the proposal from 4:30-6:30 p.m. June 26 at the Bentonville Municipal Building at 3200 S.W. Municipal Drive.

The proposal involves the construction of a two-lane roundabout with dual left turn lanes, roadway approach improvements, drainage improvements, and sidewalk and share-use path construction at the intersection of Vaughn Road and Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard, also known as Arkansas 279 and Arkansas 12 respectively.

The proposed design is meant to allow for more efficient traffic flow and will reduce the need for lane changes within the roundabout, according to a news release from the city.

The event will be an open house meeting with no formal presentations, so members of the public will be able to drop in any time during the scheduled hours to view exhibits, ask questions and offer comments, the release states.

Meeting materials, including links to comment forms, will be available starting June 26 at Hwy12-279Improvements.TransportationPlanRoom.com.

The public comment period begins June 26 and runs through 4:30 p.m. July 11. People may submit online comment forms via the project website or print the form and mail it to Garver, Attn: Kendall Johnson, 4701 Northshore Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72118. Forms can also be emailed to PublicInvolvement@GarverUSA.com.
